The Book Shelter at Art Sikka Fair
During the Art Sikka Fair last month, The Book Shelter set up one of their nooks.
The Book Shelter is a UAE-based nonprofit organization supporting education, literacy, and making books accessible. It’s a free library; you can donate / share / give / take a book.
All for free! Isn’t that awesome? You get to donate books you don’t read anymore and you can either take a book forever or borrow one and return it!

My inner 12 year old self was tingling with excitement when I heard this. When I was growing up, I had to beg my parents to buy me another book or save up on pocket money. And here, there were books everywhere!

This was the children’s bookshelf.

A bit of the general fiction genre books.

Tea, cookies and dates for visitors. It was a really warm and welcoming atmosphere.

If you are in UAE and would like to donate/borrow/give a book a new home, visit The Book Shelter at Maraya Art Center at Al Qasba Center, Sharjah, UAE. Visit the website, Twitter or Facebook for more information on donating, upcoming nooks, and book events.
[Edit: Thank you, by the way, TBS, for featuring one of my pictures as your Facebook page cover photo! I’m so touched!]
